Welcome
to the 10th year of the Unseen Unheard Conference!
Since the start of its inception in 1996, this annual conference has
evolved and grown in so many different ways. Incongruence with the
changes over the years, this year we have two goals for the conference:
1) to combat apathy by reaching out to more students
and creating workshops and programs that will reach out to a broader
range of students; and
2) to celebrate the conference’s ten-year
anniversary by recognizing the APA movement on our campus and at universities
elsewhere.
In the past Unseen Unheard has run into the problem of only "preaching
to the choir". We believe the message of the conference is very
important and want to reach out to the greater community. We want
to show students that what we do on this campus goes beyond just these
four years; no matter what career we take, we can still be active
and involved in the APA community. In the past few years, our campus
has gained an Asian American studies program, an Asian American Cultural
Center, and an APA Student Union in the dorms. Much of this has to
do with the efforts of many people in the last two decades. We also
want to recognize how far the APA community has come and to celebrate
its accomplishments. Thus this year our theme will be, Evoking
the Past to Envision the Future.
This year we have a fantastic lineup of keynote speakers,
workshop facilitators, a special movie
presentation, and a wonderful night celebrating
the talents of the APA community, including a special guest!
